Pietro Torrisi is an Italian director and cinematographer based in Los Angeles. Born in Crema in 1988, Pietro has been actively involved in Filmmaking since he was very young. At the age of 16, while studying for his Diploma in Science and Technology at the Galilei Institute in Crema, Italy, Pietro shot and edited a short film that was selected and won the local film festival. Two years later, his passion for visual storytelling compelled him to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Film at the SAE Institute in Milan, where he graduated with First Class Honors. While studying in Milan, Pietro took advantage of the lively art and fashion scene of the city to intern in respected production companies such as Bonsaininja Studio, Atlantis Film & Video, 4Friends Film, eventually landing a job as Post Production Supervisor at the aforementioned. During this time, Pietro supervised a broad range of digital content including fashion show reels, motion graphics design, e-commerce, commercials and mood videos. He created contents for clients including international fashion brands like Gucci and Prada, and his work is showcased at events in Venice, Florence, Paris and Shanghai. His desire to shift towards feature film production prompted Pietro to move to Rome, where he earned the opportunity to work as a crew member in the camera department of Distretto Di Polizia, one of the most successful Italian Tv shows to be broadcasted on national television. In 2013, Pietro moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a certificate in Cinematography. Within the year, Pietro was already working in the camera department of Oscar winning directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. On the set of their documentary “And the Oscar goes to…” Pietro got the chance to meet over 40 Oscar winners including Helen Mirren, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. Year long corporate experiences include assisting a producer for development at Paramount Picture and assistant to director Oliver Daly on a Lakeshore Entertainment action movie produced by David Goyer. Pietro’s work as a cinematographer includes “Wonderful”, a music video for the famous european popstar Luca Hånni, awarded best music video at the 2015 Hollywood Reporter Music in Media and “That’s it!”, indie music video for Preservation Jazz Hall and Genero.tv contest winner. The importance of conveying meaningful contents preserving the beauty of film as an art form, is central in Pietro's latest works. _Jan 2018
